The Roy & Enid Nicol Charitable Trust
The Roy and Enid Nicol Trust was created by Mrs Enid Hartridge Nicol in her Will and became operative following Mrs Nicol’s death in Auckland on 14 September 1971. Mrs Nichol originally immigrated from Australia. Following her marriage to Roy Nicol, Mrs Nicol spent her married life in Te Aroha. The Trust was established to provide a charitable and educational fund for the benefit of institutions and private persons resident within a ten mile radius of Te Aroha Post Office. The first grants were paid in 1973 and totalled $350. The New Zealand Guardian Trust Company is trustee of Mrs Nicol’s Will and manages the Trust Fund. In terms of the Will, a Board of Trustees is appointed to consider the applications for funding. The Board comprises four persons, one being a representative of the New Zealand Guardian Trust Company Limited.
The Trust was established for Charitable Purposes (including educational) within a ten mile (17 km) radius of Te Aroha Post Office.
Funding Amount and Time Frames
- Applications to be considered as a recipient for funding are assessed annually. The next granting cycle will be from Monday 20th May 2019 to Friday 7th June 2019.
- The amount to be distributed this year is approximately $18,000. Grants will not be of greater value than $15,000.
- All applications must be completed online.
- The length of the assessment process is dependent on the volume of applications and all applicants are notified of the decision. During the assessment period, trustees may request further clarification from the applicant regarding their application.
